Cape Town, a beautiful and mesmerising city, it is well guarded by the Table mountain and overlooks the sea coast at one end. It is a port city on the south-west coast of South Africa and has busy harbors and fleets of boats lined up on the coast. This town houses the famous prison where Nelson Mandela was kept captive which has now been converted into a museum.

1. Table Mountain

A cable car ride to and fro the mountain is a sure not to miss adventure when exploring South Africa. The Table mountain can also be explored by foot by taking one of the numerous trekking expeditions that are offered in the city. Take up tent campings that last from 1-5 days in the mountains like the long-distance Hoerikwaggo Trail up from the Cape of Good Hope.

2. Victoria And Alfred Waterfront

It is a beautiful area with a long and interesting history. The Dutch and British arrived at Cape Town here and the architecture reflects their influence on their buildings. The Table mountain is visible from this waterfront and it is a great idea to take a sunset cruise to experience the richness and beauty of the place.

3. Boulders Beach

Situated a little away from the Cape Town at Simon’s Town, the boulders beach is home to numerable penguins that are known to even pose for photo sessions with tourists. Listen to the jackass singing of these lively species or even look through the binoculars to explore the area far and wide.

4. The Long Street

This is the party area of the town where you can party night long after an adventurous day of exploring the city. The pubs like Julep, (its the best in town), or the Waiting Room which has a retro feel and old place charm, and the Neighbourhood, which has a lovely balcony to overlook the street are all great place to unwind. The options are many and fun is unlimited.

5. Lion’s Head

This mountain is situated alongside the Table mountain and has a funny looking summit, which gives it the name. Trekking and hiking adventures can be undertaken to this peak or it could be just seen and admired from a distance, depending on the tourist’s choice.

6. Robben Island

This island is situated not far from the coast and boats are always available to ride you up the island. This island has been the talking point as it houses the famous prison where Nelson Mandela was jailed for years. Exploring the island and the jail help in getting a better understanding of South Africa’s Turbulent past and the changes that have been made up to this day.

7. Stellenbosch And Franschhoek

These towns have the famous vineyards,the Delaire Graff Vineyard being the most renowned. This vineyard is nestled between the mountains in Stellenbosch, it has posh restaurants, luxurious spas, boutiques, and the exemplary art winery. It takes a day trip to visit both these towns from Capetown and back. These towns are about 40 minutes to an hour drive from Cape Town. Do taste the wines at these wineries as all of them offer testing services.

8. Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden

This is the first botanical garden in the world that aims at preserving botanical flora. It has the Table mountain in the backdrop and is home to the indigenous plants of South Africa. Take a trip around the garden to get a feel of the nature beauty and amazing sights.

9. Constantia

A suburb of Capetown, this place has a great historic feel to it with Dutch architecture prevalent around the region.There are great wineries around this place and best accommodations to live in. One of the posh areas of South Africa, Constantia is a must visit to get an upmarket and luxurious feel.

10. Camps Bay

Another affluent area in South Africa, Camps Bay attracts visitors from the subcontinent and abroad in the summer months. The beach side is ideal to have picnics and spend time with the family. There are flagged areas marked for safe swimming. It has some great cafes and resorts overlooking the Atlantic ocean.
